Origins & History
Corporate Memphis (also called 'Alegria' after Facebook's illustration style, or 'Big Tech Art') emerged around 2017. It was pioneered by agency Buck for Facebook's 'Alegria' illustration system and quickly spread across the tech industry.
The style features flat illustrations of diverse human figures with disproportionate bodies, small heads, and elongated limbs. It uses vibrant gradients, geometric shapes, and depicts utopian workplace and lifestyle scenes.
The style became ubiquitous in tech marketing, fintech apps, and startup websites. While criticized for homogeneity and perceived inauthenticity, it effectively communicates diversity and approachability in corporate contexts.
